  • What clients say | Safinity.co.uk

Explore real-life examples of how clarity coaching has transformed lives. Hear from real people about how working with Safinity has enabled their growth What clients say Chris is a superb coach with a unique ability to listen and make sense of all the jumbled thoughts in my head, hear what I'm not saying, and synthesise and make sense of them. I have finally taken tangible action in my business, and Chris supports and challenges me in a kind yet productive way. We get results. Chris is also friendly and fun and has an approachable, relatable personality. Highly recommend! Laura Brooks - Global EA When building a startup, you're constantly looking forward and from time to time, it's important to reflect on what you've done and how you've gone about it. Myself and my two co founders came to Chris to reflect on the first year of building Una, with the aim of assessing how we worked together, a review of the key projects and an overall assessment of how we performed. With this, we wanted to be better prepared and improve so we could hit our upcoming milestones more effectively. Chris ran two brilliant workshops with us, expertly facilitating enabling us to get to the core of the issues that mattered, and crucially, helping us line up a clear list of priorities to focus on. It was not only a really fun process, but we all feel more confident in setting ourselves up for the best possible chance of success. I'm lucky enough to have worked with Chris at my previous company too, and I couldn't recommend him more!" Dominic Steele - Una Health Everyone at JGA woud like to extend a massive thank you to Chris at Safinity for his exceptional contribution to our recent team-building event. Chris joined us for a LEGO Serious Play workshop, built around our strengths and growth areas, individually and as a team. The planning and research Chris put into our workshop is second to none. From our very first call, Chris took the time to understand our business, our people, our values and our goals, helping us to build a future-proof workshop that engaged the whole team and provided a fun activity with an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and each other. On the day, Chris was upbeat, organised and engaging, matching the vibe of our team the minute he walked in the door. He managed to connect with every personality in the room and we all had a fantastic day of learning, laughing and team-building. But it didn't stop there.... Team building is all about the outcome, and Chris scheduled regular check-ins after the event to ensure we had the tools to continue our learning. Since our team day, we have implemented Chris' techniques into our onboarding process, reviews and L&D programme, as well as the individual skills we all learned on the day, and the whole team have continued to benefit from the session. We highly recommend Chris to any organisation seeking a top-notch partner for their team-building events. Thank you again, Chris, for your excellent work. JGA Group I reached out to Chris after being involved in a few meetings that he had run, and seeing in him some skills and experience that I would like to attain. To name a few: - engaging facilitation of workshops and meetings - offering experience and advice on creating high performing teams and businesses whilst keeping people happy and engaged - being able to take a step back, do some big picture thinking and offer new perspectives on problems. I was feeling as though I had plateaued in my career and wasn't sure on the next steps, and any route I could take towards offering the kind of expertise that Chris does, but as it turned out, he was equally impressive in being able to help me in areas that aren't quite his domain, as we have fairly different jobs. He ran a thought provoking workshop and some follow up sessions with me. Chris knows when to push and when to have a lighter touch, and through his workshops he guided me to identify with more clarity what my skills and weaknesses are, what interests I have in the workplace and the principles in companies that are important to me. He assigned me some homework in what I thought was one of my weak areas, and one which I always shied away from - research, but he made me feel empowered and autonomous on this front. From here we began to map out potential career routes, earnings potential and impact potential and what skills I can pick up along the way, as well as recommending some courses. I not only felt more clarity afterwards, I felt more empowered and motivated, and shortly afterwards received a significant pay rise. Ryan Coughlan - Senior Engineering Leader Chris is an exceptional coach whose strategic guidance has profoundly influenced my professional growth. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking clarity in their business or personal life. Chris has a unique ability to combine his agile experience with his coaching skills, making him a very effective and inspiring mentor. Raina Malik - Founder Every insight/strategy I have gained from Chris has been extremely impactful on my journey as a director and a leader. However, the most impactful ones have been the decision process behind delegating, how to have difficult conversations with colleagues (subordinates and equals) especially those centred around performance and how to deliver training/tasks to my team in a time efficient way whilst still having an impact (weekly retrospectives). Over the sessions Chris has helped my confidence as a leader grow and continue to grow as I successfully implemented and used the insights/strategies given. Chris' knowledge in leadership and business is excellent and can benefit those new in the leadership/director arena or those who have lost their way. I cannot stress enough the difference Chris has made in the way I manage my team but also in how I manage myself. Chris has laid the foundations and given me the tools I need to become the director/leader I want to be and my team deserves. Sophie Campbell Adams - Legal Director I cannot thank Chris enough. He's been so unbelievably helpful, and just one session with him has given me so much clarity and confidence now, I actually feel able to not only focus, but completely inspired to get what’s needed, done. Before I sat down with Chris, I was feeling unbelievably overwhelmed, was hugely lacking in confidence, and literally couldn’t see the wood through the trees. I didn’t know where to start, and what to focus on first, Chris gave me some amazing advice, which was honest, and frank, but professional and focused. His outside perspective allowed me to make sense of what I previously couldn't. It gave me the confidence and clarity to just put myself out there and go for it. Most importantly, it worked! I absolutely cannot recommend Chris enough, he’s so amazing at what he does. If you are feeling a little stuck, and in need of some clarity to move forward, please book in with him. Thank you again Chris! Aimee Smith - Fractional COO

  • LEGO Serious Play Case Studies | Safinity.co.uk

LEGO Serious play in a education setting, with teachers & mentors case study Safinity, LEGO Serious Play for team building and aligning on a team vision LEGO® Serious Play® Case Studies Team building for a remote, purpose driven organisation when they meet in person Industry Education Growth stage Rapid Growth Start-Up Lego Serious Play education EK Outreach Services is a SEND tuition service providing educational support to Local Authorities and Schools across the UK. Its for children and young people with and without SEND of school age and those up to 25.
EKOS aims to improve the learning outcomes of children and young people for whom education has been a challenge either through their SEND needs, SEMH needs or other reasons which may have prevented them from fully accessing education. Situation EKOS teachers / mentors are located across the UK. The teachers and mentors convene together once every 6 weeks for Training / Inset days. Teachers and mentors of students will collaborate in small teams more regularly, discussing the needs of the individual students they are working with. However due to being and Outreach provision, there is little cross over/interaction with all staff. The provision is growing at a rapid rate, driven by the high standards and individualised programs it conducts. Increasing by over 600% in the last 3 years. Increased pupil admission requests, has meant that increasing the teacher and mentor headcount and opening new offices across the UK Manchester and the Midlands in Sept 2023 and further offices in Newcastle, Southampton and Sheffield to follow. This growth has created a need for organising the teachers and mentors into larger newly formed teams. EKOS leadership contacted me regarding a LEGO Serious Play facilitated workshop asking us to work with approximately 60 people. The workshop was to be part of their introduction back to the academic year, spanning over 3 days of training. The proposed outcome of the workshops were to: Get the team talking as ‘people’

With the teams now consisting of both new staff and old and only meeting once every 6 weeks, the teams had very limited knowledge of their colleagues, their skills and abilities. Create a team identity

Due to the nature of Outreach work it was important for staff to still feel like a team. Outreach can be lone working and so it was important staff knew there was support in place if needed. Define the ideal team environment to enable success for each team It was important for each team to know and be able to recognise what success meant for each of them. How they could work together towards this and ensure achievements were collectively achieved. Action I set out to build a fully engaging workshop for 2 hours for each team that would get people feeling more comfortable, connected and aligned on what success looks like and what the ideal team environment for them to be successful was.
After some warm up activities , once the workshop started, every person built a model that represented aspects about them and what value they brought to this new team, and shared with the rest of their team.
The team identity was easier to define, as the teams are built around the subjects they teach. Defining success was also a quick unanimous conclusion - children learning and achieving is success is embedded in this provision.
This took us onto the shared build where as teams they would agree on a number of factors that their environment would need to have for them to be able to be successful. Each team then built a shared model, some opting to build smaller individual models and bring them together, some opting to build larger models together - they were autonomous to choose how to get to the outcome.
Once each team had finished their model of the ideal team environment each team presented their model to the other teams, and reflected on the similarities and differences each team agreed upon as being important. Result By the end of the 2 hour workshops each team shared that they now felt that they knew each other better than they had done before. They all agreed that they felt more comfortable starting the new academic year in the new team structure, and had more confidence about being able to deliver the best education to the pupils collaboratively. Each team had a clear idea of success and a model built that metaphorically represented their ideal environment. No 😁 I facilitate sessions using LEGO® Serious Play® as a tool to enhance communication, creativity, and collaboration among teams and people. Isn't LEGO just for kids? No. LSP is used by adults in lot of professional settings, proving it's a valuable tool for really engaging workshops and meetings Does anyone actually take this stuff seriously? So many companies use LSP regularly, and its value is being more and widely recognized across industries. So, you get there and just make models all day long? No, LSP involves much more. It's about using the models as a way to abstract the thinking on the topic to facilitate deeper understanding, communication, and problem-solving. How does it work? You make models then what? There's a bit more to it than that - its a structured process that includes: CHALLENGE: Question or challenge to build to, BUILD: You build it using the LEGO SHARE: Share the meaning of your model, focusing on using metaphors REFLECT: Reflect on what you've built and its meaning in the context So what do you build? Anything and Everything, and you can build in different ways for different reasons/outcomes, from individual builds to shared or system builds, each serving unique purposes. Like what would you use it for? LSP can be used for meetings, workshops, team building, 1 to 1 conversations, problem solving, facilitation, planning, testing out potential scenarios, innovation, and much more. It is a versatile communication tool. What if you're not the creative type? You don’t need to be the creative type to participate. It's not a LEGO building competition but a method to unlock new ways of thinking. Does LEGO know you're doing this? Yes, LEGO® Serious Play® has been open source since 2010, and I operate within the community guidelines. Do you work for LEGO? No, I do not work for LEGO sadly, but I am a facilitator of the LSP method. Do you think you will be doing a lot of it? Yeah, I have been for the last 9 months, and it really works well with the other work I do, with the Agility / Continuous Improvement Consulting and 1 to 1 coaching. It's a brilliant addition to the tools and approaches I can offer to clients. Sounds like it's just for creative companies? Not at all. It’s about the mindset, not the industry. I've delivered workshops in tech, education, banking, startup accelerators, hospitality, health tech, global food companies, recruitment, creative agencies, financial services, and more. LEGO Serious Play and Diabetic Research - Steno Diabetic Centre Arhus A pleasure going to Denmark to the Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus to facilitate a few workshops using LEGO Serious Play for a team delivering research in Diabetes using AI. Adam Hulman and his team were incredibly receptive, attentive and engaged during the hybrid workshop where we did some self reflection on , growth areas, team alignment in form of a retrospective and then some team value and goal setting. If you work in research and want to know more about how LEGO Serious play can be used in to explore, innovate and enhance the work your doingfor research, get in touch and we can have a discussion about the value it can bring to your organisation LEGO Serious Play and Agility Combining my two favourite things. Post from Stable Teams Chris Charalambous and LEGO Serious Play injected an element of fun and a hands-on exploration into our client workshop. Our latest session took a dynamic approach to grasp the core principles of Scrum. Immerse yourself in the interactive world of LEGO Serious Play and unlock a deeper understanding of key concepts! 🧠💡 #Innovation #LearningExperience #AgileLearning #Scrum 50 Bricks and a leadership team Preparing for tomorrow's Leadership Agility day using Lego Serious Play. This is me before each workshop convincing myself I need more LEGO because I think one tiny piece I dont have will make the workshop better.... But, less is more. The metaphors are the key part of the LEGO Serious Play, and each brick meaning something is so much more impactful than building for the sake of it, and really gets people thinking differently. To find out what a leadership team can achieve with 50 bricks, message me and we can do a 1 to 1 exercise to explore the metaphors using LEGO Serious Play LSP & Wargaming - remotely Nick Drage wargaming designer and myself LEGO Serious Play Facilitator ran an experiment using two traditionally “in person” facilitation techniques virtually! We experimented with Wargaming & LEGO Serious Play to see how effective they were online with a small group of willing participants. Why? Because Nick and I were talking, and we are both curious on each others facilitation techniques and how they translate virtually and where they can be used for the best outcomes. What did we do? We collected a few gaming and gamified learning enthusiasts and facilitators, and created 2 workshops one for wargaming and one for LEGO Serious Play and played out some hypotheses. Key Takeaways – there's definitely value and reward in doing these sessions virtually, yet lots more to explore and refine in the approach. Prep is key. What wargame format or LSP activity would you like to see in the next experiment? Thanks to Aimee Smith Kent Valentine Ben Saich Jemma 🦸‍♀️ for participating hashtag#legoseriousplay hashtag#lsp hashtag#wargaming hashtag#facilitation Leadership Goals Working with a C Suite Leader last week on their personal goals around their approach to their next steps with their business, LSP was part of the session followed by some mapping out to get to clarity The feedback was positive and clear : The delivery.. There’s: 3 Team building workshops A strategy session exploring options for a established agency Exploring AI workshop using LSP A large project kick off And even a LEGO® Serious Play vs wargaming remote experiment that I’m facilitating If you want to have a chat about how you can use LEGO® Serious Play to add more value to what your doing book a call in and we can build to explore https://www.linkedin.com/in/chrischaralambous/recent-activity/all/ I don’t learn easily from reading books... This took me years to comprehend, and be ok with. I learn best through doing and being hands on ,visual and in the moment. I also didn’t know there was a word that described learning from doing “Kinaesthetic” learning, but finding this out made me feel so much better that I wasn’t in the minority! Thinking about this in my daily work with clients and the workshops I run and how I am always making my workshops as interactive as possible (maybe for my own benefit) I decided it was time to finally to do what I have been thinking about for years.. get trained to deliver LEGO® Serious Play® workshops! Big thanks to Inthrface for the incredible 4 days learning in Billund the home of LEGO®, and all of the other great people I had the privilege of learning with in June this year to become a LEGO® Serious Play® Certified Facilitator. Yeah yeah I know I’m a bit late. But now that I have delivered a few of these workshops, I have to say I’m super excited to experiment with the value it can add. If youre tired of boring workshops and want to unleash your creative side to build, and story tell in a fully engaging workshop to get to your desired outcome and exploring LEGO® Serious Play® in the process - let's have a chat about using LSP !
